SYTTENDE MAI – LEARNING TO BELONG

Tomorrow marks the first Constitution Day experienced by Nordrom Kunst from within Norway itself.

As an Italian-British curator coming from a deeply Mediterranean background, the sense of belonging to this territory is something that can only arrive slowly, through time, observation and lived experience.

But perhaps this is precisely what makes this moment meaningful.

To witness, for the first time from within, a collective ritual built around community, presence, public space and quiet civic pride.

Not as a tourist.
Not as an outsider searching for an image of Norway.

But as someone beginning, step by step, to listen more carefully to a territory of the North.

Nordrom Kunst was never created to romanticise the North.
It was created to understand it.

And maybe belonging begins exactly here:

in observation,
in respect,
in curiosity,
and in the slow process of learning how to stand inside a new landscape.

Tomorrow, for the first time, this day feels somehow shared.
