Nordrom Kunst

About the Project

Nordrom Kunst is an independent curatorial platform and art journal dedicated to exploring contemporary artistic practices through interviews, studio visits, exhibition notes and critical reflections.

The project was founded in 2026 by curator Fabio Lanna after a period spent in Northern Norway, particularly in the city of Tromsø, where the Arctic landscape and the cultural atmosphere of the Nordic region inspired the development of a new curatorial direction.

Nordrom Kunst builds upon more than a decade of independent curatorial and editorial activity developed across Europe.

The journey began in 2015 in Rome with the creation of Urban Mirrors, an online magazine focused on emerging contemporary artists and independent art spaces. Through interviews, articles and media collaborations with galleries and cultural initiatives, the magazine aimed to create an accessible platform for documenting artistic practices and exhibitions.

In 2018 the cultural association Spazio Faro was founded, with Fabio Lanna serving as its president. The association later opened its physical exhibition space in January 2019 at Via Perugia 24 in the Pigneto district of Rome.

During its first year of activity Spazio Faro hosted several solo and group exhibitions curated by Fabio Lanna, including projects developed in collaboration with and under the patronage of international embassies based in Rome. Among them were the first exhibition in Italy of Finnish artist Tuomas Korkalo and the presentation of works by Slovak artist Dana Danica Ondrej.

The space also hosted curatorial courses attended by university students, as well as book presentations, discussions and collaborations with local cultural initiatives such as the Pigneto Film Festival, becoming a vibrant cultural meeting point within the neighborhood.

In March 2020 the activity of the space was interrupted due to the global Covid 19 pandemic.

Later that same year Fabio Lanna moved to Budapest, where he founded Lanna Contemporary, an independent curatorial initiative that developed exhibitions and artistic collaborations with international artists in partnership with local independent spaces including Bunker Art Space and Charbon Art Cafe.

Over the following years the curatorial activity continued between Rome and Budapest through collaborations with artists, writing projects and curatorial research.

Nordrom Kunst represents the natural evolution of this path.

The platform develops between Rome, Budapest and Tromsø, creating a dialogue between Mediterranean and Nordic artistic environments while documenting contemporary artistic practices across Europe.

Nordrom Kunst is not a commercial gallery but an independent curatorial platform that combines editorial practice, research and artistic documentation.

The project focuses particularly on emerging and mid career artists whose work often develops outside the most institutionalized circuits. Through interviews, studio visits and critical texts, Nordrom Kunst seeks to build an evolving archive dedicated to contemporary artistic practices.

Nordrom Kunst is a brand and curatorial project developed and owned by the cultural association Spazio Faro, which continues to operate as an independent cultural organization.

Vision

Nordrom Kunst aims to establish an open and independent space for curatorial research and artistic dialogue.

In the coming years the platform intends to expand its editorial activities, develop collaborations with artists, curators and institutions, and initiate new curatorial projects across Europe.

Through writing, documentation and curatorial practice, Nordrom Kunst seeks to contribute to the visibility and understanding of contemporary artistic practices within a broader cultural landscape.
